4 Common Causes of Engine Overheating

Few things are more stressful for drivers than seeing the temperature gauge climb or steam rising from under the hood. An overheating engine can lead to severe damage if not addressed quickly. Understanding the common causes of overheating can help you take preventive measures and recognize when it’s time for repairs. Low Coolant Levels Coolant is essential for regulating your engine’s temperature. If your vehicle doesn’t have enough coolant, it won’t be able to absorb and transfer heat away from the engine effectively. Low coolant levels are often caused by leaks in the radiator, hoses, or water pump. Topping off the coolant might offer temporary relief, but the underlying leak must be fixed to prevent repeated overheating.
